Apple is going to introduce its set of artificial intelligence capabilities for iOS 18 and other operating systems at the WWDC 2024 conference, which will be held on Monday this week. Now, Bloomberg’s Mark German has claimed that these capabilities will probably be introduced as a collection called “Apple Intelligence”.
As mentioned in the Bloomberg report, the artificial intelligence capabilities of this company or “Apple Intelligence” will be provided for iPadOS 18 and macOS 15 in addition to iOS 18. They’re also optional, meaning Apple won’t force users to use them if they don’t want to.
Another important point of the Bloomberg report is related to Apple’s requirements. Apparently, to process the AI capabilities, users will need an iPhone 15 Pro or one of the iPhone 16 models coming this year.
iPad and Mac also require a model with at least an M1 chip. The Cupertino giant has also partnered with OpenAI to possibly have a chatbot similar to ChatGPT in Apple’s Intelligence.
Apple Intelligence is expected to perform basic AI tasks as well as on-device processing. In other words, instead of using the cloud, Apple performs its AI processes with the help of the device’s processor.
However, codes for “Apple Intelligence” have apparently been discovered, according to which the user can determine whether tasks are processed on the device or whether Apple’s servers are required.
Some of the AI features rumored to be coming to iOS 18 and the next generation of Apple operating systems include personalized playlists in Apple Music, news summaries in Apple News, categorization and summarization of emails, message summaries, photo enhancement features, and a Smarter version. Siri inspired by ChatGPT with more controls for each app.
